One Book That Helped Me Expand My Mind!

Share this:

I have read many books that help in training and strengthening the mind. Those are mostly in self-help category. But the book that helped me expand my mind and I read it recently is – Kane and Abel by Jeffery Archer

I really loved the book for the wide expanse of experiences that it transfers to you. Listing a few here:

The length of time this book covers is 1900 till 1960. The way the story is woven into the happenings around the world is impressive. The story takes you through German invasion of Eastern Europe around the first world war, the revolution time Russian invasion of Europe through to the second world war and the post war developments in the US.

The geographical expanse is equally impressive. The story starts from Poland, goes to the Russian concentration camps in Siberia, to Moscow, Istanbul, USA and England. You get to live in those countries during those times of war and peace.

Above all, the book is a fine display of what human ambition can achieve. The two main characters reach great heights of achievement in spite of their so different backgrounds. What it show is that your ambitions and dreams matter more than anything else.

Since it covers the full life of the two characters, it intricately teaches you about what is important in each phase of life. What may be important to a teenager, holds no meaning to a middle-aged man. There is a time for everything and the achievements of one phase lose meaning in the next phase.

Whatever wealth you may accumulate in your prime, there will be a time when you are just not interested in material wealth and you crave for love, affection and relationships. Depending on how you have lived your life, you may not get these even if you are terribly rich.

It never pays to be too rigid in relationships. The world doesn’t work according to your values and principles. What is acceptable today may become unacceptable tomorrow and vice-versa. If you are too rigid through your life, it may be too late to change later. When you finally decide to change, you may not be there at all!

Not giving any details of the story or characters as I don’t want to spoil the suspense but if you have an intense desire to expand your mind – Do read this book without any delay and share your experience here!

If you have also read this book, do share your own views in the comments!

If you get inspired to read it, do let me know!
